Connect JustFood Data to Power BI

Before you can build custom visualizations in Power BI, you must establish a connection between the data on a JustFood page and Power BI.

Prerequisites

Ensure that you have performed the following prerequisites:

• Installed the Power BI Desktop software (https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/get-started/).

• Created a Power BI account.

To connect JustFood data to Power BI

1. Open the Power BI Desktop software, and then log in to your Power BI account.

2. The OData URL from JustFood is used to connect Power BI with your database. To copy the OData URL from JustFood, perform the following steps:

   1. Open JustFood.

   2. Choose , enter web services, and then choose the related link.

   3. Search for ibbi.

      A list of web services where the Object Name starts with IBBI are displayed.

   4. Select the page that you want to report on.

   5. Right-click the OData URL, and then choose Copy Link.

3. In the Power BI Desktop software, choose Get Data, and then select Odata Feed.

   The Odata feed dialog box opens.

4. In the URL field, paste the OData URL that you copied from JustFood.

5. At the end of the URL, delete the information that identifies the web service.

   For example, if the URL that was pasted was:

   http://amurphy-e560.axentia.ca:7048/DynamicsNAV100/OData/Company('JustFood%20Company') /IBBI_Production_Forecast_Entry

   you must remove IBBI_Production_Forecast_Entry so that the OData URL appears as follows:

   http://amurphy-e560.axentia.ca:7048/DynamicsNAV100/OData/Company('JustFood%20Company')/

6. Choose OK.

   Power BI attempts to connect to your JustFood database and on the OData feed page, you are prompted to enter permissions.

7. Enter the table permissions.

   Depending on how your database is setup, you must configure the Windows or Basic tab. To configure the Windows tab, perform the following steps:

   1. Select Windows.

   2. Select Use my current credentials.

   3. Choose Connect.

      If the Use my current credentions option does not work, try Use alternate credentials or select the Basic tab, and then enter your credentials.

8. If you are prompted to configure Privacy Levels, choose Organizational, and then choose Save.

   Note

   This step is only required the first time that you connect to a JustFood database.

9. To load the data, choose Load.

   After the data loads, you have a query that you are able to report on.

10. (Optional) To rename a query, perform the following steps:

    1. Right-click a query.

    2. Choose Rename.
