Add Serial Numbers when Picking

In some cases, an item might not have a serial number, but one is required for shipping. In these cases, the Guided Pick page generates a serial number per item.

Prerequisites

• Floor Guided Interfaces are set up.

• One of the following setups has been performed:

  • A warehouse shipment was created and on the JustFood Floor Setup page, the Whse. Shipment Pick Creation check box was selected.

  • A warehouse pick was created where the Do Not Fill Qty. to Handle check box was selected.

• The item is serial tracked for outbound sales. To ensure that the item is serial tracked for outbound sales, verify that, on the Item Tracking Card page, under Outbound, SN Sales Tracking is selected.

To add serial numbers when picking

1. From the Main Menu, choose Shipping.

2. Depending on whether a warehouse pick was created, perform one of the following procedures:

   • If a warehouse pick was not created and on the JustFood Floor Setup page, the Whse. Shipment Pick Creation check box was selected, perform the following steps:

     1. Choose Whse. Shipping.

     2. Enter the search parameters, and then choose Search.

     3. Select the warehouse shipment that you want to open.

     4. Choose Open.

        If items are available to pick, a warehouse pick is automatically created.

        The Warehouse Shipment Lines page opens.

     5. Select the line that you want to pick.

        The Guided Pick Entry page opens.

   • If a warehouse pick was created, perform the following steps:

     1. Choose Whse. Pick.

        The Picks page opens.

     2. To view the list of warehouse picks, enter the search parameters, and then choose Search.

     3. Select the warehouse pick, and then choose Open.

        The Guided Pick Entry page opens.

3. Enter the bin code.

4. For the first item, perform the following steps:

   1. Enter or scan the item number.

   2. In the Handle Qty field, enter 1.

   3. Enter the lot number.

   4. Perform one of the following steps:

      • If there is a serial number that you want to use, enter that number.

      • To have a serial number generated in the background, leave the Serial No. blank.

        Note: The generated serial number is not displayed in Floor but you can view the serial number from the warehouse entry in JustFood after the pick is posted.

   5. If the item is weight tracked, enter the net weight.

      You are returned to the Item No. field.

5. For the second item, perform the following steps:

   1. Enter or scan the item number.

   2. In the Handle Qty field, enter 2.

      Note: You are entering 2, which represents the second item, not the amount to handle.

   3. Enter the lot number.

   4. Perform one of the following steps:

      • If there is a serial number that you want to use, enter that number.

      • To have a serial number generated in the background, leave the Serial No. blank.

        Note: The generated serial number is not displayed in Floor but you can view the serial number from the warehouse entry in JustFood after the pick is posted.

   5. If the item is weight tracked, enter the net weight.

      You are returned to the Item No. field.

6. Continue to enter information for the items that require a serial number, ensuring that you change the value for the Handle Qty field.

   After you have entered all of the items, the Place Bin field is displayed.

7. Enter or scan the Place bin.

8. When all of the lines have been picked, to register the entire pick, on the Pick Entry page, choose Post.
