Calculate Family Planning
After the planning worksheet has been run, you can calculate which families can fulfill the demand.
The process to calculate family planning includes the following steps:
Populate the planning worksheet.
Calculate family planning.
Create the planned production orders.
To populate the planning worksheet
Choose , enter planning worksheets, and then choose the related link.
The Planning Worksheets page opens.
Select the record that you want to use.
On the action bar, choose Process > Calculate Regenerative Plan.
The Calculate Plan - Plan. Wksh. page opens.
On the Options FastTab, perform the following steps:
Turn on MPS.
Ensure that MRP is turned off.
MRP (Materials Requirement Plan) calculations are not considered by family planning.
In the Starting Date field, enter the date to start evaluating inventory availability.
If an item's on-hand quantity is below the reorder point, the system forward-schedules a replenishment order from this date. If an item's safety stock is below as of the starting date, the system back-schedules a replenishment order due on the planning starting date.
In the Ending Date field, enter the ending date of the planning horizon.
Demand and supply are not considered after this date.
If you want the planning run to stop when an error is encountered, turn on Stop and Show First Error.
In the Use Forecast field, select the forecast that is to be included as demand when you run the planning batch job.
The default forecast is set up on the Manufacturing Setup page, on the Planning FastTab.
In the Exclude Forecast Before field, define how much of the selected forecast to include in the planning run by entering a date before which forecast demand is not included, thus allowing you to exclude old information.
Ensure that Respect Planning Parameters for Exception Warnings is turned off.
On the Item FastTab, to run the planning based on item, item description, or location, set the filters.
Choose OK.
The batch job runs, and then the planning worksheet is populated with the planning lines.
You can now calculate the family planning.
To calculate family planning
Choose , enter planning worksheets, and then choose the related link.
The Planning Worksheets page opens.
Select the record that you want to use.
On the action bar, choose Navigate > Family Production Worksheet.
The Family Production Worksheet page opens.
On the action bar, choose Process > Calc. Family Production Plan.
Select the location and date that will determine what records are used from the Planning Worksheet when calculating family planning.
The calculation will only look at records on the Planning Worksheet for the selected location and date.
Choose OK.
A calculation is performed, which checks the following:
The value on the Family page, in the Output Type field. Only items with an output type of Primary are considered in the family planning.
The value on the Family page, in the Planning Order field. If an item has an output type of Primary on two different families, the Planning Order field is used to determine which item gets priority in the planning. The lower the planning number, the higher the priority.
The families that will meet demand are returned.
The Planning Worksheet is updated to display which lines have been planned from the Family Production Worksheet page.
The Family Supply FactBox displays the demand and supply of each item that is being produced.
The Family Overages FactBox displays the items where the overage is greater than the planning overage percentage that is defined on the Manufacturing Setup page.
The Family Shortages FactBox displays the items where demand is not being met.
The Family Component Availability displays the component quantities to be consumed, and the available quantity.
If required, to adjust how many families are to be produced, adjust the value in the Family Factor field.
If required, to adjust how much of a family component is to be produced, adjust the value in the Quantity field .
If required, to add a family to the worksheet, on the action bar, choose Process > Add Family.
The Family Selection page opens and allows you to choose the family number and number of families to produce.
If required, to delete a family, on the action bar, choose Process > Delete Family.
When you are finished populating the Family Production Worksheet page, you can carry out the action, which will create the planned production orders.
To create the planned production orders
After the Family Production Worksheet page has the desired values, choose Process > Accept Plan.
This action selects the Accept Action Message check boxes and you can no longer make any more changes.
On the action bar, choose Process > Carry Out Action Message.
The Carry Out Action Msg. - Plan. page opens.
In the Production Order field, select the type of production order that you want to create.
If you want the process to stop at the first error, turn on Stop and Show First Error.
Choose OK.
When the action is carried out successfully, the records are removed from the Family Production Worksheet page and the Planning Worksheet page, and the planned production orders are created. If items remain in the standard Planning Worksheet page, those items were not included in the family plan.
