Walkthrough: Create, Update, and then Post a Preventative Maintenance Work Order
In this walkthrough, you act as Frank Johnson, who is the person that is responsible for creating, updating, and then posting the Preventative Maintenance (PM) Work Order for the Packaging Line 1 work center 400.
For this walkthrough, the sequence of events are as follows:
The PM Work Order is created.
The PM Procedure for Packing Line 1 is completed.
The PM Work Order is updated based on the results of the completed PM Procedure.
The PM Work Order is posted.
Prerequisite
You have completed the steps in Walkthrough: Create a Preventative Maintenance Procedure.
On the Locations page, a Code exists with the value of MAIN.
On the Capacity Units of Measure page, a Code exists with the value of HOURS.
Create a PM Work Order
To schedule and manage the preventative maintenance for the Packaging Line 1 work center 400, a PM Work Order must be created.
To create a PM Work Order
From the Prev. Maintenance Technician role center home page, choose + PM Work Order.
The Work Order page opens.
On the General FastTab, place the cursor in the Description field.
Typically, when the cursor is placed in the Description field, the PM Work Order No. field is automatically populated with a value that is based on the number series.
If the PM Work Order No. field was not automatically populated, specify a value.
On the action bar, choose Actions > Functions > Get PM Procedure.
The Preventative Maintenance Procedures page opens and displays a list of procedures.
Select the PM Procedure that displays, in the Description field, Packaging Line Maintenance, and then choose OK.
A dialog box appears and asks whether you would like to create a PM Work Order from the PM Procedure that you selected.
Choose Yes.
A dialog box appears and displays a message that indicates a PM Work Order has been created.
To close the dialog box, choose OK.
You are returned to the PM Work Order page. The fields on the page have been populated with the details from the PM Procedure that was selected.
To enter the estimated 1.5 hours that is expected to be required to complete the full inspection, on the Scheduling FastTab, perform the following steps:
In the Maintenance Time field, type 1.5.
In the Maintenance UOM field, select HOURS.
The PM Procedure for the Packaging Line 1 work center 400 can now be performed.
Update the PM Work Order
The PM Work Order must be updated based on the results from the completed PM Procedure.
To update the work order
Choose icon, enter preventative maintenance work orders, and then choose the related link.
The Preventative Maintenance Work Order page opens.
Select the PM Work Order No. that is associated with the PM Work Order that you want to update.
The Work Order page opens.
To specify the location where the maintenance was performed, on the General FastTab, in the Location Code field, select MAIN.
On the Lines for the PM Work Order, in the Result Value field, type Yes.
A value of Yes indicates that the inspection was completed.
When the Result Value field is updated with Yes, the Result field is automatically populated with the value of Pass and the Test Complete check box is automatically selected.
Post the PM Work Order
After the PM Work Order has been updated with the results of the completed PM Procedure, the PM Work Order can be posted.
To post the PM Work Order
On the action bar, choose Actions > Posting > Post.
A dialog box that displays the following question appears:
Do you wish to post this PM Work Order?
Choose Yes.
The PM Work Order is posted.
You can view the posted PM Work Order on the Finished PM Work Orders page.
