Shelf Life for Purchase Orders
When creating purchase orders, you can define the shelf life and production date requirements from the following pages:
Vendor Item Catalog
Item Vendor Catalog
Vendor Card
Item Card
To determine whether an item that is being purchased meets the shelf life and production date requirements the following criteria are considered:
On the Purchase Order page, on the Lines, the Expected Receipt Date field value.
The values that are entered for the Shelf Life Requirement
The values that are entered for the Production Date Requirement fields.
JustFood first looks at the Shelf Life Requirement field value and the Production Date Requirement field values on the following pages in the following order:
Vendor Item Catalog or Item Vendor Catalog
Vendor Card
Item Card
If the first page doesn’t have a value, JustFood looks at the next page.
JustFood does not allow an item to be received in the following situations:
The item expires before the date that was calculated based on the formula in the Shelf Life Requirement field and the expected receipt date. For example, if the expected receipt date is May 15, 2018, and the shelf life requirement is 2M (two months), any item that expired on or before July 15, 2018 would not be allowed to be received.
The item’s production date is before the date that was calculated based on the formula in the Production Date Requirement field and the expected receipt date. For example, if the expected receipt date is May 15, 2018, and the production date requirement is -2M (minus two months), any item that was produced on or before March 15, 2018 would not be allowed to be received.
In the following diagram, the green bars demonstrate what lots can be received. The red bar demonstrates the lots that cannot be received. For example, if a lot expiration date falls between the planned receipt date and the calculated minimum shelf life date, the lot cannot be received or if a production date is before the calculated earliest production date, the lot cannot be received.
