Move a Production Order Task to a New Date or Time
Scheduler provides the capability for you to move a production order task to a new date and time within the same center.
Depending on the situation, when trying to move a production order task to a non-capacity time, Scheduler works as follows:
Absences: When an absence for a work or machine center has been updated, or a calendar containing an absence has been recalculated, you cannot move a production order task to a time within the absence. If the production order task is moved to a time that overlaps an absence, the end time of the task is extended to reflect the absence.
If the absence has not been updated, the task can be moved to the absence.
Tip
Updated absences are displayed in red. Absences that have not been updated are displayed in yellow.
Off-Hours: You cannot move a production order task to a time that is outside of the normal work hours as defined on the shop calendar that is associated with a center. You can start a task within normal work hours, and if the task goes across off-hours, the end time of the task is extended.
Holidays: When a calendar for a work or machine center has been calculated, you cannot move a production order task to a time within the holiday. If the production order is moved to a time that overlaps a holiday, the end time of the task is extended to reflect the holiday.
To see how production orders work around non-capacity time, see Walkthrough: Absences and Walkthrough: Holidays and Off-Hours.
If a production order is tied to a routing that goes through several centers, when you move one task of the production order, all the other tasks are moved accordingly. To see how different production orders are moved in Scheduler, see the Walkthroughs section.
If you attempt to move a production order task to a time slot that has reached capacity, a message that you have over planned is displayed, and you have the option of declining or accepting the move.
