Walkthrough: Sub-Contractors
The following walkthrough is an example of how the Scheduler works with production orders that are sent out to sub-contractors.
Walkthrough
In JustFood, the F100060 item uses the S 3OZ-18CT routing. The S 3OZ-18CT routing uses the machine center SUB-COPACK1.
Typically, sub-contractor centers do not have any setup or run times defined.
The SUB-COPACK1 work center has a subcontractor number of V17150. Having a subcontractor number identifies the work center as a subcontractor.
A Scheduler view is set up that includes all sub-contractor work centers.
The location is set to DETROIT.
A production order was created for the F100060 item.
The Location Code was set to DETROIT. DETROIT is the location associated with the SUBCONTRACT Scheduler view.
In Scheduler, the MF1007452 production order is only visible from the Month view because the routing that is associated with the item does not have any setup or run time defined.
Subcontractors was selected for the color, so production orders that share the same subcontractor number, as defined on the Work Center Card, are the same color.
Even though production orders MF1007458 and MF1007452 are for different items, the color is the same because they have the same subcontractor number.
To view information about the subcontract, the production order task can be double-clicked.
